Overview

In the UK, the Anton Jurgens Charitable Trust supports registered charities with grants up to GBP 10,000. The London Committee is responsible for selecting which charities receive grants.

Criteria for UK charities

The Anton Jurgens Charitable Trust (AJCT or “The Trust”) provides grants to registered UK-based charities supporting people of all ages who are socially disadvantaged and/or have disabilities. When applying, please consider the following criteria.

  • Only applications from UK-registered charities with an annual income not exceeding GBP 500,000 will be considered.
  • Charities that have received a grant from the AJCT in the past 3 years cannot apply.
  • Charities supporting research, the arts and cultural or religious-based activities fall outside AJCT’s scope, unless they are engaged in the development of therapies.
  • The Trust only offers grants to charities that operate exclusively inside the UK.
  • The Trust does not provide grants to community interest companies.
  • To be considered, the charity must have been registered as a UK-based charity for at least 3 years.
  • Only applications for financial support not exceeding GBP 10,000 will be considered.
  • Charities that have applied online through their database will receive the decision on their application by e-mail following the spring (May) or autumn (November) committee meetings, depending on the timing of their application.
  • Not being selected to receive a grant does not disqualify a charity from reapplying in order to be considered in the next committee meeting.
  • The Trust only considers your application when your financial accounts to the UK (including: Scottish and Northern Ireland) Charity Commission have been submitted on time and no later than 28 days overdue.

The majority of grants are for £1,000 or £2,000 but range up to an apparent maximum of £10,000. (a very few exceptional grants above this are also made eg: Duchess of Kent House Trust £27,000)
