Diageo Community Awards
Overview
Sustainability is the principle that underlies all Diageo's activities. We seek to continually invest in a sustainable business, to operate in an environmentally sustainable way, and to support a sustainable society and community.
Diageo Ireland's roots stretch back over two and a half centuries, and thanks to the generosity of the Guinness family, a culture of philanthropy runs through the organization. Arthur Guinness' legacy is evident throughout Dublin, and today a new era of philanthropy has been ushered in by an initiative which bears his name.
The Arthur Guinness Projects
Launched in 2013, The Arthur Guinness Projects is a major new cultural initiative which will enable entrepreneurs and innovators to develop their ideas. Diageo is committed to supporting Ireland's enterprise culture. We believe that the budding entrepreneurs of today are the business, social and creative leaders of tomorrow.
The Arthur Guinness Projects invite applications for four separate categories: food, music, sport and arts. These areas were identified as being of significant importance to Irish people, and they inspire and great deal of pride. The ideas which best encapsulate Ireland's creative and innovative spirit will receive funding and mentoring from some of Ireland's most influential figures.
The Arthur Guinness Projects aims to build on the overwhelming success of The Arthur Guinness Fund, which has provided funding to 30 social entrepreneurs between 2009 and 2013. €3m was distributed to awardees during the course of the programme, allowing some of Ireland's most talented social entrepreneurs to create opportunities and positively impact on their respective communities.#
