Note

The key thing to note is that they are looking to make grants that will strengthen your organisation internally and help it take the next step forwards in its growth or sustainability. Their grant might help you grow, increase your internal capacity, serve new beneficiary groups, become more sustainable or more efficient. They their grants to have a transformational impact on the funded organisations. If you are applying for core costs, you must demonstrate how this use of the funds will move your organisation forwards, as opposed to enabling ‘business as usual.’

Who they fund

The Fore fund small charities that make a big impact. Their approach is designed to level the playing field.

They are particularly keen to hear from grassroots organisations working with underserved communities. They are proud to have been one of the first grant funders for many of their portfolio charities.

The grants programme is open to:

  • Registered Charities (including those constituted as charitable trusts, charitable unincorporated associations, charitable incorporated organisations and charitable companies limited by guarantee), Community Interest Companies (CICs) limited by guarantee, or Community Benefit Societies (CBSs) that are either Charitable CBSs or non-charitable CBSs with an asset lock
  • They do not fund CICs limited by shares or non charitable CBSs that do not have an asset lock
  • Your annual revenue should be less than £500k
  • Applicants in any location or sector, but you need to be registered in the UK

Reapplying to The Fore

  • If you are unsuccessful, you can reapply
  • You should consider the feedback you have received before reapplying
  • If you are a current grantee, you cannot re-apply until your existing grant has closed and you have had a “grant closure” call with their team
  • They do not currently offer follow-on funding
