Overview

Applications will be assessed according to the following criteria and subject to the availability of funds. Applicants should provide as much information as possible when applying.

Individual applicants/organisations must:

  • Be based and/or operating within the borough of North Down Borough Council. (The North Down Borough Council area includes Groomsport, Six Road Ends, Carnalea, Helens Bay, Holywood, Conlig and surrounding areas).
  • Be a properly constituted arts organisation/group.
  • State in the application the aims of the project including start and finish dates and its method of delivery. The applicant/s must also demonstrate sufficient experience to carry out the project.
  • Demonstrate local demand for the project. (Through audience/participant figures etc).
  • Demonstrate that efforts have been made to raise income and/or financial support from sources other than North Down Borough Council Arts Grant assistance.

Funding will not be considered retrospectively, projects must allow for a 3-month lead in time from the deadline for submission of the application and the date of project commencement.

Only one application from any applicant will be funded in any one financial year. Unsuccessful applicants from the first round are entitled to apply with new projects again in the second round. The financial year is 1 April to 31 March. Individuals and groups already in receipt of Council financial assistance are prohibited from applying. Successful applicants will not lead to repeat funding in any one financial year.

Awards will not normally be given in excess of £1,000.

Individual applicants must have been selected for particular projects or training opportunities. Grants will not be given to students requesting support towards fees/expenses for further and higher education.

Where funding is approved, North Down Borough Council must be acknowledged on all project/individual promotional material.

Evaluation forms will be sent to successful applicants and must be completed and returned to the Arts Office within four weeks of completion of the funded project.
