Trustees' Month - November 2026

13 Oct 2026
Back to news

Trustees' Week is a time for us to celebrate the great effort and achievements of Trustees. We've extended this to a month-long calendar of events and promotion of practical resources is in recognition that Trustees need support and guidance in carrying out their role.

Charity trustees play a vital role in running charities bringing valuable skills, experience and knowledge to organisations. They have responsibility for leading and making strategic decisions while at the same time ensuring that their organisations are well-governed.  We are very thankful for the many dedicated trustees that we have in Northern Ireland who lead their organisations regardless of the challenging external climate.

Trustees' month training

We have a variety of training planned to meet the development needs of boards, so far we have sessions planned on: effective chairing, good governance, impact reporting and HR for trustees.

We would love you to join us for some or all of these online events. You can book your place by clicking the links below.

Resources

NICVA provides advice and guidance to trustees on an ongoing basis through online resources, advice notes, email and telephone support and governance training.  Denise and Donna in our Governance and Charity Advice Team have vast experience on advising on charity law and governance issues. They have a wealth of knowledge and support hundreds of charity boards each year in best practice.

They have a wide range of essential guides to good governance, covering everything from setting up a group to Running a charitable company. Have a look by clicking the link below.

Webinar recordings

We also have some older recordings of previous webinars where the content is still very relevant today.  For any Trustee of an organisation that is managing finances in difficult times then the following recording from 2020 should be of interest
