Job Title: Campaigns Officer (for East Derry constituency)
Organization: Cara Hunter MLA - SDLP
Location: Based in Coleraine/Belfast
Contract Type: 35 hours, Fixed Contract, End date: May 31st 2024.
Reporting To: Cara Hunter MLA  Salary: Grade 1

Key Responsibilities:

Constituency Engagement:

Develop and maintain strong relationships with constituents, community leaders, and local organizations.
Organize regular outreach events, town hall meetings, and other activities to foster direct communication between the MLA and the community.
Act as a point of contact for constituents, using Caseworker, addressing their concerns and forwarding issues to the MLA as necessary.

Campaign Planning and Execution:

Collaborate with the MLA and party leadership to identify key campaign priorities and objectives.
Develop comprehensive campaign plans, outlining strategies, timelines, and key performance indicators.
Execute campaigns efficiently, utilizing a range of communication channels, including social media, traditional media, and face-to-face interactions.

Media Relations:

Work closely with the MLA and the communications team to develop press releases, statements, and other media materials.

Use social media to communicate campaigns and leaflet drops across constituency.
Coordinate media engagement activities, including interviews, press conferences, and responses to media inquiries.


Community Advocacy:

Advocate for community interests by researching and analyzing issues relevant to the constituency.
Work with local stakeholders to address community concerns and advocate for policy changes when necessary.

Host Zoom calls with local Councillors on community needs across East Derry.

Event Management:

Plan and execute events such as campaign launches, community forums, and public meetings.
Coordinate logistics, including venue selection, invitations, and follow-up activities.

Host meetings for the MLA on local community issues.


Qualifications and Experience:

A degree in political science, communications, or a related field is preferred.
Previous experience in political campaigns, community engagement, or public relations is desirable.
Strong knowledge of Northern Irish politics and familiarity with the local community.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Well-organized with strong project management skills.
