Overview
Many individuals in Ards & North Down are suffering with poor mental health which is being exacerbated by the situations they find themselves in. We are looking to recruit a mental health and wellbeing practitioner who takes a wholistic approach and wants to work as part of a team who are addressing the needs of the whole person. The successful candidate will provide support, advice and guidance to people who are experiencing personal issues or crisis. From crisis intervention, counselling, to delivering support groups and mental health training in small groups – we are looking for an all-round champion of mental health who can work on a 1-1 basis and with small groups. This person needs to be dynamic and flexible and be able to respond to need.
Supervision, CPD training and support with the BACP accreditation process will be provided.
Salary: £28,665 (per annum pro rata) plus pension scheme and health care. 12 months contract with possible funding extension.
Job Responsibilities
- Delivery of a mental health crisis response which operates during the day.
- Delivery of check in / drop-in sessions
- Delivery of 5 steps to Wellbeing Programmes
- Delivery of training and education on topics affecting people’s mental health and wellbeing e.g., Dealing with Stress, Handling Anxiety, Healthy Relationships, Parenting etc
- Facilitation of support groups
- Championing & promoting mental health
- Working within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a wholistic service
- Ensure safeguarding of children and adults
- Deliver safe and confidential counselling to people of a range of ages
- Develop effective working partnerships locally to deliver a high-quality service in the local community
- Deal with risk and safeguarding issues in accordance with legal and ethical requirements, in consultation with the management team
- To record data electronically
Essential Criteria
- Professional qualification in counselling or psychotherapy (minimum Level 4 Advanced Diploma or equivalent
- Accredited (or working toward completion, to be accredited no later than one year after start date) with BACP, IACP, NCPS** or HCPC
- Minimum of 150 hours supervised clinical practice
- Prior experience counselling children, young people and have an understanding of child development and an awareness of issues impacting on a young person
- Prior experience of providing crisis intervention support to vulnerable adults
- Prior experience of facilitating groups and delivering training
** NCPS accreditation must be Accredited Professional Registrant Status
